The Test Valley Business Awards 09/10 were launched on Wednesday 21 October 2009 by Chris Packham, conservationist and TV presenter of BBC's Autumnwatch. Guests met Chris Packham over a fine buffet lunch at Silks Hotels - The White Horse, Romsey, while also making and renewing business contacts. Chris will be on our screens again with Springwatch in May 2010.
Chris surprised guests by stating: "In my view that people came first when conserving our environment, which is why I am delighted to be called on to advocate the Test Valley Business Awards."
Chris reasoned that it is crucial for businesses to work together to make communities viable for the future. Only then will people have the time, and perhaps money, to invest in sustaining our environment and the wildlife around us.
The Deputy Mayor of Test Valley, Councillor Chris Lynn, thanked all the Sponsors for their support which enable the Awards to happen. Andrew Ross, Editor of the Romsey Advertiser, spoke of the benefits Test Valley Business Awards bring to our community. He also restated the media's support for the Awards, specifically the Romsey Advertiser and its sister paper The Andover Advertiser, and radio supporter Andover Sound 106.4 FM.
